Fear of Trains

This is a brand-new design inspired by a Magnetic Fields song about, well, trains. This necklace is made almost entirely of re-used parts-- the exceptions being a new clasp and handmade and soldered sterling silver loop and bail on the pendant. The pendant itself is made from a vintage copper bezel. In the setting is the head of an old railroad nail, that once held a track in place (the number on the nail head indicates the year that nail was put in so that railroad workers would know when it was time to replace it). Yes, I sawed through an iron nail. No, it wasn't fun. But I think the result is worth it. Hangs on 19" of vintage copper chain. Actual number on nail will vary.
