Steve and I are getting married next year.  Being engaged to Steve makes me feel happy to know him, at peace with who I am, comforted to know where my home is (with Steve), proud to be in love, and unspeakably excited for the rest of my life.  There’s only one dark stain on my consciousness: knowing that the emotional, relational, legal and economic benefits of marriage that Steve and I look forward to are unfairly denied to other couples in love.

This affecting video protesting Prop. 8 was sent to me by my future sister-in-law.  After a weekend spent scouting a venue for my own wedding, I found the message especially poignant– and heartbreaking.  Get your tissue ready:
